A paver installation is judged on the surface and fails on the base. Southwest Florida gives hardscape a hard time: a summer of afternoon downpours, sand subgrade, and slabs that move. The compaction, the base depth and the edge restraint decide whether a patio is still flat in five years.
We build the base for the load the surface will actually carry, which is not the same specification for a walkway and a driveway that takes a truck. Then we lay the field, cut the borders clean, and lock the edges properly.
Because we also do the lighting, wall lights and step lights get sleeved during the build rather than surface-mounted afterwards, and the conduit is already where it needs to be.

What people ask before they call.
How long does a paver patio or driveway take?
A patio is usually a few days; a driveway that needs the old surface removed takes longer. Most of the time is base preparation, which is also what decides whether it is still flat in five years.
Do pavers sink or shift over time?
Not if the base is right. Sand over soil moves; a compacted aggregate base with proper edge restraint does not. It is the part of the job nobody sees and the only part that determines how it ages.
Can hardscaping be lit?
Yes, and it is easier to do during the build. Lighting recessed under a cap course or into a step is wired before the stone goes down, which is why we prefer to design the two together.
